The five-star Marinela Hotel Sofia has been designed by the renowned Japanese architect Kisho Kurokawa - the author of a number of world landmarks. The hotel is situated on an area of 30 000 square meters. It was initially called Vitosha New Otani, then unofficially known as the Japanese Hotel. Located on the highest point in Sofia, Vitosha-New Otani Hotel illustrates the traditional ties between Bulgaria and the country of the rising sun, Japan.
